On Wednesday 30th March, the third in the series of Rosie Apponyi’s international literary dinners at Brody Studios recounts a very adult love story: Nancy Mitford and Gaston Palewski were middle-aged and battle-scarred when they embarked on a less than ideal love affair in post-war France. Yet their love, immortalised in Nancy’s bestsellers ‘The Pursuit of Love’ and ‘Love in a Cold Climate‘, endured for the rest of their lives. Drawing on their unpublished correspondence, The Horror of Lovetransports the reader into all the glamour and scandal of Paris, London, Venice and Rome at a time when Europe was being remade.
An acclaimed biographer, Lisa Hilton is the author of seven books including the bestselling novel ‘Wolves in Winter‘ and the forthcoming revisionist biography ‘Elizabeth: Renaissance Prince‘. The evening will be structured around an author talk, followed by a book-inspired menu with a witty take of French wartime fare; all accompanied by Hungarian wines.
London’s Guardian newspaper considers Brody StudiosBudapest’s epicentre of cool” whilst the Telegraph describes Rosie’s literary dinners as “delicious food, lashings of good wine, and a terrific atmosphere”. As an exciting new collaboration, Rosie’s Literary Dinners at Brody Studios promise a unique experience for readers and diners alike; bespoke menus and the company of fellow bibliophiles together with literary superstars.
